Hey guys! I’m back and better than ever because break is right around the corner! *squeals* I’m super excited for this post, because it marks the first installment in my summer series! I know it’s only May, but Memorial Day is tomorrow, and to me, that marks the official beginning of summer! This summer, I’m pumped that I get to do so much traveling. But, traveling can sometimes be more stressful than it needs to be. So today, I’m bringing you the most useful traveling hacks to help make this summer the most epic yet! Read on to learn how you can slay the vacay!

Tip 1: Roll Your Clothes

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetYou have probably heard this before, but you guys NEED to roll your clothes. It totally saves room! If you need even more space, I would recommend using a space bag (those plastic bags that you vacuum the air out of). That way you don’t have to worry about cramming your entire wardrobe into your suitcase!

Tip 2: Put Washi Tape On Your Electronics

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetIf you’re traveling with family or friends, it’s more than likely that you’ll accidentally mistake your electronics for another person’s. By putting the same pattern washi tape on your electronics, it’s so much easier to identify your electronics from the rest. Not to mention, it looks super cute too!

Tip 3: Place Shoes In A Showercap

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetIf you don’t like putting your shoes on top of your clothes when you pack your suitcase, you can use a shower cap instead! Stick your shoes inside a shower cap before placing it on top of your clothes. Alternatively, you can use a plastic grocery bag or a Ziploc bag, anything you have on hand to prevent your clothes from getting dirty! Super easy and neat!

Tip 4: Put Underwear In Shoes To Save Space

Is it just me, or is there never enough room in my suitcase (I’m a notorious overpacker)? I like to roll up my socks and underwear and stick them inside of my shoes to save even more space. My shoes smell pretty good most of the time though, so if your shoes stink I would not recommend doing this (just kidding).

Tip 5: Store Money in Several Places

Processed with VSCO with c1 presetThis will save your butt if you ever get your wallet stolen. What I like to do is put money in a few different places, so that if one stash of cash gets stolen, you have other stashes hidden around.

If you want me to do more of these kinds of posts, let me know what you think!

Happy Summer!

Standing Up To Bullies – Musical Style

Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to audition and be cast in an amazing, new musical production. Her Song is an original musical aimed at fostering kindness and addressing the underlying causes of bullying. After several months of rehearsals, I was lucky enough to perform this exciting project with a group of amazingly talented people, in an absolutely gorgeous theater, the Ivoryton Playhouse. With thanks to the team at Stand Up and Speak Out and the Ivoryton staff, we enjoyed one week of hard work but fun-filled days, performing for local schools and the general public on an equity stage, alongside the awesome talent and friendly faces of Her Song.

After arriving at Ivoryton Playhouse, we headed straight to our dressing rooms in the backstage area, where we quickly got comfortable with sharing a room (girls in one, boys in another). From here, we made our way to the theater’s house and had our final dress rehearsal before opening.

During the time I was at Ivoryton, I can honestly say, it was the experience of a lifetime, alongside some wonderful people. We were lucky enough to perform every day, have Q&As with kids, and inspire people to take a stand against bullying. Each day we were able to enjoy something different, including fresh audiences, new energy, cast bonding, inspiring feedback and more. Could it get any better?

A huge thank you to the amazing team at SUSO for bringing me on this wonderful journey, my incredibly talented castmates for accompanying me and killing it together, and the team at Ivoryton Playhouse for providing such a great venue! So, whether you’re a teacher, student, parent, or just want to make a change, support the cast and crew of Her Song to bring the anti-bullying message to more communities in the future!
